Operations & Maintenance Lead (O&M Lead)

OnePower (1PWR) is seeking an Operations and Maintenance Lead (O&M Lead) to plan operational workflow, asset management and customer relations, produce reports for management and provide support for 1PWR renewable energy projects in the operations phase. 1PWR O&M Lead will be highly process development oriented. As a fast-growing startup, 1PWR is in a phase of building out systems and processes that will enable the company to upscale its operations across Lesotho and eventually throughout the African region. The O&M Lead must have exceptional leadership and organizational skills that can anticipate and execute business and technical needs of the company. In collaboration with management, the candidate must be a self-starter, stickler for time and skillful in planning and creating a vision and a conducive environment for a high performing team in adherence to the high-quality standards as prescribed by the company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities of the O&M Lead include but are not limited to:

  • Development and implementation of O&M plans in compliance with O&M contracts
  • Develop and improve database integrated systems and platforms to illustrate and analyze historical and real time technical and financial asset performance
  • Routine monitoring and reporting of asset performance via SCADA and specialized in house systems including key metrics (energy generation, energy sales, disaggregated and aggregated rolling averages, trends etc.)
  • Scheduling, logistics planning, executing, validating and logging corrective and preventative measures at sites meeting key performance indicators for uptime/availability while tracking and quantifying O&M effort
  • Direct and remote supervision of 1PWR service technicians and contractors performing O&M at field sites
  • Deliver high quality customer service: creating and implementing a vision, quickly identifying issues and executing solutions meeting key performance indicators for response and resolution time
  • Maintenance of spare parts and tools inventory
  • Updating documentation of standard operating procedures and generating performance reports
  • Grow the team and its capabilities as the asset portfolio grows and company needs evolve
  • Work at field sites, as needed to maintain operations of 1PWR assets
  • On-call time commitment typically 1 week/month and not more than 2 weeks/month.

Required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years work experience demonstrating deep experience in relevant work
    Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Sesotho
  • Strong skills using Microsoft Office (word processing, presentations, data processing) software, including professional document formatting
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
