Grid-Connected

OnePower Lesotho has evolved from a provider of small-scale energy access solutions to an all-encompassing renewable energy company, developing the largest solar PV plant in Lesotho.

Neo 1 Project – 20 MW Solar Farm

In 2017, 1PWR was selected as the Preferred Bidder for a project to build Lesotho’s first utility-scale solar project, a 20MW PV facility in Mafeteng District. 1PWR is partnering with Red Rocket, a leading international developer of utility-scale solar projects, and the Lesotho Pension Fund managed by Mergence Investment Managers.

The NEO I has received broad international support. Two key partners are the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA), a US $95-million multi-donor facility funded by the governments of Denmark, the United Kingdom, the United States and Italy and hosted by the Renewable Energy Department of the African Development Bank (AfDB); and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), independent agency of the United States government, formed in 1992 to advance economic development and U.S. commercial interests in developing countries. In addition, we have received project development support from the AfDB’s Africa Climate Technology Centre (ACTC) and technical advisory services from the Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP).
