Human Resources Lead

OnePower Lesotho (1PWR) is seeking an individual with experience in Human Resource
Management to play an integral role in organizational operation as the company continues to
grow at a very fast pace. OnePower Lesotho, a startup Independent Power Producer (IPP),
has been selected as the preferred developer of a 20MW solar PV power plant in Lesotho
(the first in the country), is currently operating renewable energy minigrids at 7 locations
across Lesotho, and is starting construction on 10 community minigrids in late 2021. The
HR Lead will be responsible for all HR functions, will report directly to C-Level of the
company, and will have the opportunity to interface with a diverse team working in Maseru
and at field sites across Lesotho.

Responsibilities of the Human Resources Lead include but are not limited to:
Managing the staffing process, including recruiting and interviewing; interfacing with
managers and thrust leads for new hire processes

  • Completing employee onboarding, including creation of contracts, distribution of
    policies, benefits enrollment, etc.
    Conducting new employee orientations and staff trainings as needed.
  • Managing pay roll records; ensuring an up-to-date internal market survey on
    competitive compensation levels
  • Managing all paid, sick, and other leave records; interfacing with employees and
    managers to ensure complete and correct records
  • Administering various employee benefits programs including medial aid and pension
    funds; investigating and recommending improvements to benefits programs
  • Managing liability/worker’s compensation insurance claims
  • Identifying and clarifying employee issues; suggesting solutions to management;
    implementing solutions as agreed upon with management
  • Reviewing and recommending policy and procedure updates to maintain compliance
    with Lesotho Law
  • Ensuring job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all regulations
  • Developing training materials and performance management programs to help
    ensure employees understand their job responsibilities
  • Creating internal reports as requested by management and/or required by sponsors,
    investors, or Lesotho Law
  • Maintaining confidentiality for HR related issues
  • Learning and using collaborative and organizational tools and techniques such as
    ToDoList, Whatsapp, etc.

Required skills and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years work experience demonstrating deep experience with HR
    management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Sesotho
  • Strong skills using Microsoft Office (word processing, presentations, data processing)
    software, including professional document formatting
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field preferred
